Matteo Bertoli's video: BMPCC6K vs Kinefinity Terra4K Camera comparison

Subscribe to my mailing list and and get access to exclusive content: https://bit.ly/3AVgLSt Had the chance to meet up with @Daniel Peacocke, who owns a Kinefinity Terra 4K and we decided to put our cameras side by side. I've always been interested in the Kinefinity brand, but never had the chance to play around with their cameras. Here are some technical details: Codec: 6K BRAW on the Pocket and 4K ProRes 4444 on the Terra Lenses used: Leica R 35mm (same serial number) WB: 5600-6000K during the day and 4000K at night. ISO: between 400 and 3200 on both cameras. Aperture: between f/2 and f/4. ND: IRND 6 stops on both cameras. Color: BUTTERY Natural Rec709 on both cameras. CAM A: BMPCC6K CAM B: Terra 4K Here are some personal considerations: the image quality on the Terra 4K is very good and I really like the saturation in the highlights compared to the Pocket, but there are a couple of things I didn't like. First of all, for some reason, the highlights cap at 80IRE in the waveform, so you need to be very careful when exposing. The second HUGE issue is how the camera renders the color red. Similar to the Panasonic S1H, the sensor sees the red as orange and that unfortunately affects skin tones. In a lot of different shots you can clearly tell the skin looks a bit too orange on the Terra. In my opinion that's a very concerning issue. Lastly, checking out the footage on my 4K monitor, the Terra seems to soften up the details in the skin quite a lot. Sometimes it almost looks like the skin was retouched. Of course this was the first generation camera for Kinefinity and I am sure they made a big progress with their new cameras.
