Matthew Holmes's video: STAR BORES made in 1991 - Part 1 of 3

@STAR BORES (made in 1991) - Part 1 of 3
A paper-mache Darth Vader helmet. Stormtroopers in floppy nappies. Models ships on strings. Cockpits made of 1970's stereo decks. Princess Leia rescued from the boy's toilet. Plastic oar handles doubling as light sabres. A mouse suit for Chewbacca. Mountain bikes instead of speeder bikes... these are just some of the inventive things you will discover in this home movie rendition of the Star Wars trilogy, made in 1991 by a 14 year old Star Wars fan and a cast of 9-year olds. Shot and edited on VHS, with the sound mix done with a tape recorder and synthesizer - through a mono microphone. The laser effects were added 21 years later on Final Cut Pro - to fill in the blanks where our imaginations once had to. Starring Darren Holmes as Lube Stystalker, Jennie Holmes ans Princess Ladder, Ryan Bestic as Ham Yoyo, Jared Bower as Chewbacco, Nathan Bower as a General and multiple bad guys, and director Matthew Holmes features as Dork Zader and randomly appears as stormtroopers and rebel fighters, respectively. Also starring Adam Nimmo, Luke Nimmo and Peter Goodway (R.I.P.) as stormtroopers and rebels. (We recycled the cast a lot). Dedicated to the memory of Peter, my good childhood friend who has since passed away. Also dedicated to our dad, Graeme Holmes, who provided the patience, video equipment, finances, transport - and let us film most of the movie at his school during the holidays!
