Matthew McCrane's video: Save Harrison House

@Save Harrison House
What is the Harrison House? The Harrison House was built in 1895 by C.H. Bencci who was the Mayor of Brownwood from 1905 to 1907. He was the Manager of the Brownwood Cotton Seed Oil Mill and a “wild-catter” in the oil business. In 1925 G.N. Harrison purchased the home. A Harrison family member lived in the home for approximately 65 years up until the 1990s. For the last several years it has been used as an office for Howard Payne University. Recently, the University has decided to put up the Harrison House for sale to be moved only. The University has a right to do what they will with the property they own. However, we feel strongly that homes with history such as this one deserve to remain in their current and rightful place. They are significant to the history and landscape of our downtown.
