@MEDIACITYUK’S SPOTLIGHT ON… Digital: the lessons learnt during COVID-19
MEDIACITYUK’S SPOTLIGHT ON… Digital: the lessons learnt during COVID-19’ In partnership with THE GREATER MANCHESTER LEP, BBC and ITV From news websites and services robust enough to serve millions of people, educational apps for a lost generation, to millions of hits for banana bread recipes, stay at home workouts and viral videos, digital has kept us informed, entertained and connected during the Coronavirus pandemic. This Wednesday, ITV’s Digital Executive Producer of Continuing Drama and North, Claire Hoang will talk to Lou Cordwell OBE, CEO magneticNorth (and co-chair GM LEP) and Chris Condron, BBC Director of Digital Products and Services, about Digital: Lessons learnt during the COVID – 19 pandemic and their importance to the economic future of Greater Manchester. In Greater Manchester, we do things differently. This is a trailblazing region of innovation, disruption and creativity; leading the way in digital transformation. Greater Manchester is built on making and doing. With the ambition to be one of the top 5 digital cities in Europe and the home of the digital citizen. CV-19 has accelerated a digital transition that was always inevitable, and we won’t go back. There has been a big step from a world of work in offices to one where we are more flexible, and the use of the office is specific and tactical. But what is next? Chris and Lou, both originally from Salford, share very passionate aspirations for Manchester to become world leading in digital enabling skills and opportunities. Lou is CEO and Founder of magneticNorth, an award winning, independent digital design studio in Manchester. Lou is also Co-Chair of the GM LEP, supporting economic recovery in a post-Covid Greater Manchester. Chris is responsible for the BBC’s digital product and engineering technology for North and Nations, including product strategy, development, and systems and service operations. He oversees this for BBC Sport, Live Events, the BBC’s Children's services, BBC Education (including BBC Bitesize), the BBC Ideas pilot and BBC North’s technology systems. They will be interviewed by Claire Hoang, who will also share insights on how digital and CV-19 has impacted ITV, our most loved soaps and the increased consumption of television content.
