7 Korean Foods That Are Similar To Indonesian Dishes If you are a fan of Hallyu, you might be familiar with some korean foods that appear on most Kdrama. On today’s video we have list some Korean foods that have similar appearance with Indonesian dishes. Panjeon and deep fried vegetables pancake / Bakwan Mostly known as Bakwan, this indonesian dish/snack is made from shredded vegetables mix with some seasonings and all-purpose flour. This mix is then deep fried in a hot oil until golden brown. This snack/dish is quite similar to Korean pancake aka panjeon that also consists various vegetables/meat. Panjeon can be a great food complement for beers or soju while bakwan is a great choice for snacking. Kimchi and Kiam Chai Kimchi is a famous menu from south korea. It is made from a salted cabbaged along with various seasonings such as gochukaru, fishsouce, soy sauce, and etc. This menu has become a staple food in every dining room across the country. South Korea also has various type of Kimchi. Kiam Chai is an Indonesia dish which was adapted from a chinese dish with the similar name. In South Korea, Kimchi has become a staple side dish on every family while Kiam Chai is only consumed on some area in Indonesia. Jjajangmyeon and yamin noodles Jjajangmyeon and yamin noodles are both made from noodles with savory spices and chunks of meat on top. Jjajangmyeonis famously known for its black color that comes from the fermented black bean paste on its ingredients. While, Yamin noodle is famously known for its savory and tasty taste.. Pat bingsoo and shaved ice Pat bingsoo is a South Korean style shaved ice that is usually consumed before summer. The traditional pat bingsoo is usually topped with red bean sauce but there are also other toppings that can be customized according to your preferences. If you happen to visit Indonesia and you wanna try a similar taste of pat bingsoo, you can try order esserut/ shaved ice that mostly packed with fruit slices, various flavors of syrup, nata de coco, jelly, and many more. This esserut is very similar to Pat bingsoo. Tteokbokki and cilok Tteokbokki and cilok are both have chewy texture and made from flour then mixed with sauce. Tteokbokkiis a traditional korean snack that mostly sold at traditional market (Sijang) or street vendors. Tteokbokki is also famous for its red sauce and spicy kick which a favorite of many people on the country. In Indonesia, cilokis a favorite snacking food amongst many indonesian. This cilok is made from flour and then mixed with variety of sauces. The chewy taste of both these Tteobokki and Cilok is sure gonna make you drooling. Bibimbab and pecel Bibimbabor also known as Korean mixed rice is a staple food amongst south korean people who live alone and has a lot of left over side dishes. Bibimbab is usually made from rice, and various side dishes that you have on your fridge then complement with gochujang, sesame oil and seaweed. This menu is quite similar to Indonesian menu name Nasipecel. NasiPecel consists of indonesian white rice, steamed vegetables, and topped with pecel/ spicy peanut sauce. The menu is usually also complete with other deep fried menu such as deep fried tofu, deef fried fish/chicken. Japchae and fried rice noodles Japchaeis a famous South Korean menu that is made from sweet potato starch noodles mixed with stirred vegetables, mushroom, and meat slices. This menu is famous for its clear and transparent color, and chewy texture. Japchae is quite similar to Indonesian dish named Mie Goreng/Chaomien. The different between miegoreng and japchae is the noodle. Mie Goreng uses all-purpose flour based noodles while japchae uses potato starch noodles.
