FRESH HARE CHANE KI SABZI
A quick trip to the Villa Parle East sabzi market, and I found so many fresh veggies available only in Winter. This fresh green chana have a slightly sweet and nutty flavour that pairs perfectly with aromatic spices in this sabzi. Even if you are not a fan of vegetarian recipe, should definitely try this dish as it’s a full of protein, fiber, iron, calcium & Vitamin C. Excellent addition to your diet for boosting energy levels, improving digestion & supporting heart health; plus low in fat and calories too.
.
Recipe is very easy :
- Take 350 gm fresh hara chana
- In a mixer jar, Take 1/4 cup fresh coconut, 3-4 cloves of garlic, few green chillies, a small piece of ginger, a bunch of fresh coriander & 1/4 cup of fresh chana (out of the total 350 gm)
- Grind them and make a paste
- In a kadai, add 2 tbs of oil, jeera (cumin seeds) & hing (asafoetida)
- Now add, the paste we just made
- Saute well
- Now add salt & basic masalas (Turmeric Powder, Red Chilli Powder, Dhania Powder) & 1/4 cup of water so the paste will not stick at the bottom
(You may add Garam Masala as well if you wish)
- Now add fresh green chana
- Add some more water
- Cover it and let it cook till it’s done
- Fresh chana will cook in 7-8 minutes on a medium flame
- If you like mushy texture, then let it cook till 10 minutes.
- While serving, squeeze lime juice and sprinkle some fresh coriander
.
We enjoy Hara Chana Sabzi with rice, roti or paratha. With rice, some ghee will make this dish even more scrumptious.
