What is the best tire dressing? That, of course, varies from person to person. To select the best tire dressing, you need to determine how much shine you want, how much time you want to put into it, and how you prefer to apply the dressing. Once you know these things, we understand it can still be confusing sifting through all the different types of tire product available. So, how do you go about selecting the best tire dressing for you and get the best results? Before doing anything, evaluate your tires and your wheels and how much time you want to put into it. Do you prefer a one-step product, or a multi-step approach? Finally, how much shine do you desire and the application format you like best. If your tires only need light cleaning and just need to be maintained, we have a couple of options for cleaning and dressing your tires at the same time. Meguiar’s Ultimate Waterless Wheel & Tire lightly cleans wheels and tires while applying dressing for a dark, rich “like new” look at the same time. It’s also convenient as you don’t need a hose or water. When using the product, spray one wheel and tire at a time. Mist your wheels and spray a little more on your tire. Wipe your wheel clean with a microfiber and turn to a clean side for a final wipe. For slightly more gloss you can let the product self-spread or for a less glossy finish spread evenly with an applicator. If you’re limited on time, you can also clean and dress your tires with either Meguiar’s Hot Shine Tire Foam or Meguiar’s Hot Shine Reflect Foam. Both clean, shine and protect tires, and they allow you to simply spray and walk away. With Hot Shine Tire Foam, you get a deep, black shine. Hot Shine Reflect Foam also give you a deep, black shine plus a unique sparkling effect when the light hits it just right. When applying, hold the can 4-6 inches away and spray on the tire in a uniform pattern. Watch the foam work as it cleans and reveals a brilliant shine. Wipe off any excess or overspray onto surrounding surfaces and let the product dry fully before driving. If your wheels and your tires need moderate cleaning, and if you have OEM clear coated wheels there’s Meguiar’s Hot Rims Wheel & Tire Cleaner. With this product, work one wheel at a time on a cool surface in the shade. Pre-rinse the wheel & tire with water. Then, spray the cleaner on from the bottom of the tire upward. Agitate the tire with stiff to medium to stiff tire brush and agitate the wheel with a soft wheel brush. Rinse off with a strong stream of water within 20 seconds. If you don’t have OEM clear coated wheels or you simply want to clean your tires, a good all purpose cleaner, or Meguiar’s Citrus Power Cleaner Plus is a great option. Work on a cool surface in the shade, spray onto one tire and agitate with a tire brush. After 30-45 seconds rinse thoroughly with water. Repeat on the other tires. Thoroughly cleaning the tires will remove dirt, debris and preexisting tire dressing, and ultimately allow for the dressing to look better, stick more effectively and last longer. Once you know how much gloss you want, it’s time to dress your tires. With all tire products be sure to work in a well-ventilated area, avoid spraying on concrete or asphalt, and immediately remove overspray from wheels and paint. If you’re looking for application control, Meguiar’s Endurance Tire Gel delivers a rich, glossy shine in a traditional hand applied format. With this product simply put a little bit on a foam applicator or soft cloth and spread evenly. If you want more of a high gloss wet look shine, go with Meguiar’s Hot Shine Tire Spray or Meguiar’s Hot Shine Tire Coating. Whether you choose the trigger spray tire dressing or the aerosol application, spray thin and evenly, and wipe off any excess. For even more shine with a deep, dark “insane” wet look, you’ll want Meguiar’s NXT Generation Insane Shine Tire Coating, or for our highest gloss with a soaking wet look go with Meguiar’s Ultimate Insane Shine Tire Coating. With either aerosol tire shine, hold the can 4-6 inches away and spray a thin and even coat directly onto the tire. No matter which dressing you use, let it sit and fully cure before driving away.
