Celebrating his 2021 Legion d'Honneur Award, literary great Adam Gopnik joins Melissa Errico and Tedd Firth in concert for part two-- titled "Desire" --of a 3-part series "Love, Desire & Mystery" for The French Institute Alliance Francaise in NYC. This very literary song expands and advances the theme of desire to French Indochina. Gopnik's charming anecdote of dining with Duras only adds a bit of salt to the dish. Set in Indochina in 1929, the book recounts the two-year love affair between a 15-year old girl and an older man, an experience that left her "ravaged." The song - titled "A Thing Or Two"- is sung as if by the older Duras remembering herself at 18.
