@Spritual Neuroscience Webinar Part 5: The Neurobiology of Spirituality
This segment starts with a review of the work of Jim Whinnery. He experimentally brought fighter pilots to the point of near death to understand the effects of high gravitational forces on the human brain. In doing so, he inadvertently documented that we are awake, aware and conscious at the point of death, even though we might appear comatous. I then review near death experience research that indicates that we die the life we live. Each of us has a very unique dying experience based on what lessons of love we needed to learn in this life. Finally I discuss that 1/3 of the brain is dedicated to our having spiritual experiences. Consciousness apparently uses the brain to interact with this reality. I review the brain structures involved in consciousness linking with and using the brain as the "temple of consciousness".
