Melvin Wei's video: Growing Giant Bangkok Guava from Cuttings Days 0-122

@Growing Giant Bangkok Guava from Cuttings, Days 0-122
Seeing cuttings of this fruit tree in a nursery jogged my childhood memories of eating giant Bangkok guavas and drinking guava juice as a kid in Taiwan. This is a rather large cutting that was growing in cold, overly wet conditions under the canopy at the nursery, and after I bought it home I noticed that the existing leaves were turning reddish purple and withering away. It looked as if large insects had been eating the leaves, but by the end of this video you can see tiny beige bug bodies on the leaves and on top of the glass table in the background, so I'm thinking a spider mite infestation is the reason I'm losing all of the original leaves. That explains the relative lack of progress over the first 4 months of growth relative to the other plants I have. Watering with imidacloprid seems to have helped deal with spider mites and other pests that are trying to parasitize my plants. I read that this species of guava likes to grow in cooler spots, so that suits my morning-sun only balcony situation.
