My red Caribbean papaya series was cut short by natural overwatering due to heavy rains that persisted for much longer than usual for this region during the winter of 2023. Root rot set in, and the entire root burl turned to mush below the "soil line" of coco coir. Snails swarmed the plant, even during the day, to eat the rotting leaves. This was my first case of root rot for plants grown in coco coir.
