Mendota's video: First of Nine

pure doodling in Marina Del Rey...on the first of nine days off...filled in the lines later. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I'm particularly fond of stream of conscious jams that wrap melodies around a drone, like a helix around an axis...seems elemental...and, like anything can happen. A perfect canvas. I think Indian ragas are kind of like that... Jamming this way can feel like an out of body experience...when done with other players, it feels like souls swirling in the middle of the room. The idea of a separate self evaporates... I've imagined this is also experienced in other ways... when we are deeply moved or inspired, either by a seemingly magical creative moment, or in recognition of a profound truth, which may actually be just two manifestations of essentially the same thing. Perhaps more practically, it may be akin to what is commonly experienced in a pivotal moment, sometimes described as "when time slows"...but probably available anytime - with an intensified recognition of here and now.
