This video has been made purely out of love for the Eurovision Song Contest, without any commercial purposes. I tried singing the joik parts first, and while I do believe I got somewhat close to the sound, it obviously wouldn't have been authentic yet. It's nice that the original showcases this traditional Sami singing, but since I didn't want to ridicule it with a bad imitation, I just sang the lyrical part in the chorus. Also, I'm not very comfortable with singing improvised ad-libs in general, so I used that space in the song to bring out more of the instrumental section! Specifically: My beloved Uilleann Pipes and Tin Whistle! There's also a Hurdy Gurdy somewhere in the background. And the rest I just filled up with growls :) . They somewhat overlap with both the sung parts as well as with those lines that are "joiked" in the original. Be sure to vote for Norway in the Grand Final on 18th May if you enjoy this!
