This is a brigandine, a type of armour made of many plates of steel attached to a (in this case) hand spun silk velvet fabric on the outside, and hemp on the inside. This is based on the Leeds Brigandine, which was of Italian making. The fact I am wearing full plate arms with it is also backed by historical iconography.
