Michael Chesley Johnson's video: Self-Portrait: Monochrome Grisaille Followed by Seven Glazes

@Self-Portrait: Monochrome Grisaille Followed by Seven Glazes
Music from www.MusOpen.com - https://musopen.org/music/2007/albert-ketelbey/in-a-monastery-garden/ For this fun painting, I started with paper - etching paper that had been sized with Gamblin PVA followed by two coats of acrylic gesso. Next, I painted a grisaille with white and raw umber. Once that dried, I followed with a series of glazes - adjusting color and temperature here and there. (Glazing medium was Gamblin Galkyd + Gamsol.) Toward the end, I found it necessary to make a few adjustments with opaque paint, so I added white to some of the glazes. Once the painting dried, it was very glossy - undesirably so - so I varnished it with Gamblin Cold Wax Medium.
