Michael Hartigan's video: Piano Chords for Bluesy Tunes

@Piano Chords for Bluesy Tunes
Music featuring blues harmony has some unique properties setting it apart from most other styles of music. In this video, we examine a few of the hallmark techniques used by pianists when playing chord changes in blues-influenced music, such as half-step grace-notes, 7th chords, insertion of neighbor chords, and the way a single repetitive figure can fit over a number of chords that would not be expected to sound appropriate in most other styles. This video is part of a series in which we look at reading chord charts, and the techniques involved in playing appropriately for various genres of music. Thanks to Andrew Denlinger for his portrayal of Steve Snappypants and to Mike O'Meara, featured as our guitar player in this video.
