Mike Drawdy's video: Clipping Freshwater Stingray Barbs Potomatrygon henlei

@Clipping Freshwater Stingray Barbs (Potomatrygon henlei)
Due to a fungal growth within the plastic sheaths covering the Potomatrygon henlei barbs, we needed to clip the barbs and sheaths off for their health. Like many zoos and aquariums, we took a pair of adequate clippers and cut just above the fleshy growth on the barbs. The barbs are made of keratin, just like fingernails and hair and therefore did not harm the rays. The barbs will regrow and we did not hurt any stingrays in the process. After a treatment of preventative medication, the rays were back to their active selves and ready for purchase.
