MiketheMathMan's video: Sigma 16mm 1 4 Sony REVIEW The BEST Lens for Vlogging Astrophotography

@Sigma 16mm 1.4 Sony REVIEW | The BEST Lens for Vlogging & Astrophotography?
The Sigma 16mm f/1.4 lens. What a beast of a lens. I'm using mine for the Sony e-mount crop sensor cameras like the Sony a6300, a6400, and a6500. This is my favorite lens for vlogging and astrophotography. Great build quality as well. It’s embarrassing to admit, but I actually dropped this lens not too long after purchasing it. From six feet above the ground. The ONLY thing that got (somewhat) damaged was the lens hood. And that wasn’t too bad either. Even though it’s not a Sony lens, the autofocus is still very quick. I can’t actually tell a difference between the focusing speed on this lens vs the focusing speed on my native Sony lenses. Keep in mind I don’t shoot many portraits, I mainly do landscapes and interiors, so quick focusing isn’t a huge deal to me. Things I dislike about the Sigma 16mm f1.4: The lens cap is frustratingly difficult to put on sometimes. I don’t know if it’s just me or what, but I have the hardest time putting the lens cap back on this lens. It’s like Sigma left a only a fraction of a mm of free space to where the cap will go on, and anything outside of that will leave the user slowly becoming insane. This lens is HEAVY (405g – 0.89lbs). Like, it’s heavy. Compared to the Sony 10-18mm f4 which I also vlog with, the Sigma 16mm f1.4 is much more difficult to hold up for extended periods of time. Vlogging on the Sigma 16mm f1.4 (used with Sony a6500): 16mm is a fairly wide angle, definitely wide enough to vlog on, but I’ve found myself having to remember to extend my arms all the way…and I mean, like, ALL the way. Or else my face appears too close to the camera. For me, 14mm is the sweet spot for vlogging, but that’s just personal preference and 16mm is good enough, especially with everything else you get with this lens! The wide aperture is perfect for separating yourself from the background. The wide aperture is also good for vlogging later at night without losing image quality. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ~~GEAR I USE~~ Camera 1 - Sony a6300 - https://amzn.to/2IT0sht Camera 2 - Sony a6500 - https://amzn.to/2ZvONuX Lenses: Sony 10-18mm f/4 - https://amzn.to/2DuIMpf Sony 50mm f/1.8 - https://amzn.to/2Dtob4D Sigma 16mm f/1.4 - https://amzn.to/2ZpYZW5 Minolta Maxxum 75-300mm f/4.5 - https://amzn.to/2Gw1Cgb Tripod - Manfrotto 290 Xtra - https://amzn.to/2GEvKYg Tripod Head - Manfrotto 3-Way Photo Head - https://amzn.to/2IOjNAw iPhone 6s Plus ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Music by LiQWYD: http://www.soundcloud.com/liqwyd http://www.instagram.com/liqwyd http://www.spoti.fi/2RPd66h http://www.apple.co/2TZtpeG http://www.patreon.com/LiQWYD ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Legal Disclaimer: Michael Miller (aka MiketheMathMan) is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to amazon.com.
