Instead I’m unearthing traumas and unlearning just about everything I was taught - I think I’m finally getting the hang of it. At least that’s what I thought yesterday, I thought I knew it all. Now what I know more than anything is that I know nothing at all except, God. It’s too bad we all have so much to say about Him. If we listened as much as we speak we might have a chance to see what He seeks, I believe He sees the heart. It’s too bad we traded it for religion and culture abandoning the essence of salvation; truth is, we are all in need of saving. Instead we abandon the human in us in our efforts to be saints, Do we think serving God severs the humanity He gave? We’re not perfect, no, but everyday we can only be what He made- perfect, is not what you are but what He makes you in time, the time you hardly afford yourself, be patient, kid. Not only in traffic, arguments, or life’s innumerable tests, be patient with yourself. You’re only one year closer to an eternity with Him and while you’re here, you’ve still got things to do. You’ve got films to make, poetry to shake from the dust you accumulate getting back up from the gravity of everything that has tried to pull you down, get back up. You’ve only been presented with what He’s prepared to take you through, and you have been through a lot, kid. did you think it was all for nothing? Did you believe the author of creativity was the business of taking yours; have you forgotten who brought all into existence by the breath of a word? He is crafting you, into everything He put in you at the foundation of earth, watch Him work. Even when it hurts. He will heal what the world has broken. He has heard the words unspoken, the tears kept holstered, He will be there. In the moment you need Him most but you will first see your need for Him, although you always have. You just didn’t know it was Him you were seeking. It’s too bad we have so much to say about Him. If we were as willing to learn as we are to teach then we might learn that God is much bigger than religion, our own perception and people’s opinions. More than our fears, our questions, our presumptuous sinning. Before a building He resided with the broken. Before you answered He called you chosen, not desiring for you to abandon who you are but to reside in and inspire your heart. In every action and statement, the way you smile at a stranger, make him evident in each exchange, that in you they will see the work His hands have made. I believe He’s proud of you kid.
