Dave Weckl has been one of my favourite drummers since I was 14. I have been to his Dave Weckl Band shows and also other projects he was a part of, and I have always admired his playing which has been a source of inspiration for me. In 2016 I had the opportunity to meet him at the Adam's Drumworld Festival in the Netherlands where we both performed. It was an amazing meeting and a fantastic experience! I decided to choose a song from his repertoire, "Road to Connemara", record a video and slightly rearrange the composition into my Drumming Syndrome interpretation. It was a great challenge to learn the individual parts and very creative grooves and fills; I spent hours practicing. Although I have great respect for Dave Weckl, my goal was not to imitate his playing style, but to bring my own creativity and more "rock" style of playing into some parts of the song. Dave Weckl will always remain one of my drummer heroes and this video is a sort of a small tribute to him...
