Mimi's Playtime - Learning Through Music And Play 's video: Recycled SpaceCraft Rocket Ship Kids Craft

Mimi's Playtime wants to make learning accessible and fun for kids. Here's a great recycled craft to go with our space theme and our song "The Marvellous Milky Way." This craft would be a great addition to any early learning curriculum on Space. You can use the craft to teach the different parts of a rocket and use it in imaginative play to learn about the elements of space. This also goes well with our song "The Marvellous Milky Way" which teaches about our own spiral galaxy and what we can discover there. *We recommend kids have adult supervision making this craft* Recycled water bottle rocket ship craft: Materials: 2 plastic water bottles Duct tape in silver, black, and white Half a cup of rice Piece of a cardboard box Paper straw Scissors Hot glue gun Optional: Star stickers or any decorative stickers Steps: 1. Cut 1 plastic bottle in half. Discard top half 2. Tape bottom half to the bottom of the full-sized bottle. This will be the basic rocket shape 3. Wrap rocket from top to bottom with silver duct tape and leave a small space at the very top for inserting the paper straw. If your straw is long you may need to chop it 4. Wrap black and white tape around rocket in a few spots for decoration 5.Use bottle top as a window. Glue on the top 1/4 of the rocket ship with a glue gun 6. Cut 4 identical long triangles and wrap each in silver duct tape. Trim any excess tape 7. Hot glue triangles to the bottom of the rocket. These are your fins 8. Decorate rocket with star stickers.
