Join Mimi and Gabi for a fun sing-along song about honey bees. Young children will be introduced to specific vocabulary that demonstrates a day in the life of a worker bee whose job it is to collect nectar for honey. These new words are meant to spark conversation and further learning about honey bees and the role they play in honey production and pollination. This song can also be used to develop listening skills. Similar to, Peter and the Wolf by Sergei Prokofiev (but on a smaller scale) the instruments represent "characters" in the song. You could expose the child to the sounds of the main instruments in the song and then ask them to identify them as they listen along. The principal character is the honey bee protagonist who is represented by the flute. Other instruments such as the violins and violas depict the colony and the French Horns give the feeling of a grand adventure as the honey bees return home from a full day's work.
