Acrylic Pouring Painting Great Big Shmear Split Cup Ring Pour Swipe Shmear! Hello Friends! Welcome back! Tonight we are still pouring in HoA's Garage.. it was lovely to be able to play with my paint again. Art can be so therapeutic, I got happy just thinking about pouring! There are a few things I want to play with tonight.. I want to try out a new split cup I got, and I want to continue to explore the Great Big Shmear from Gail Burstyn of Life In Splatters. I really really love doing the shmears, watching the cells pop up is simply magical to me! I am using MiX by Karpata Art as my pouring medium today, its consistency is perfect for this! My Colors are: Colors Liquitex Basics - Cadmium Red Deep Hue Amsterdam - Permanent Red Violet - Azo Orange plus some FolkArt Fire Opal - Lamp Black DecoArt Americana Decor Metallics - 24K Gold Pouring Medium: MiX by Karpata.Art There is NO Silicone in Any of My Paint. I start out by layering my split cup and pouring it. I tilt it out but I dont like the composition very much. I actually really want to use my big palette knife and do some shmears on top of these colors.. so thats what I do. The red and the red violet mixing is a gorgeous color, I LOVE how it looks coming up as cells ringed in gold... just an amazing technique! I continue to play with the shmears and at one point decide to tilt it, which distorts the composition.. so I decide to try something else. I layer a small cup and pour that around the canvas and stretch it out to cover. My goal is to have ribbons of solid colors to shmear over. It works pretty good! I realize this is a long video, but the process is not always quick and easy. This was an exploration for me, and I really learned so much about what to do and not to do with the shmears to get the results I wanted. I enjoyed it immensely!
