From search to maps, the technology giant is always looking to make life more convenient for us. While search has helped transform how we learn things, Google Maps has changed the way we travel. You do not need a guide to reach your destination, Google is with you. And it does not matter in which part of the world you are, it’s efficient everywhere you go. But the top view can only help us to a degree. Streets can be difficult to navigate through. And internet delays may mean you missing your turn. To make it less cumbersome and to make life easier, the street view was launched. It also comes as a standalone application and is also incorporated in both Google Earth and Google Maps. For every nook and cranny that it has gone through, you cannot miss a turn anymore. The software shows you where you are and where you are heading to. Landmarks are visible and it becomes real easy making decisions while driving. Load your route beforehand and the trip will feel as if you have been there before. But for every positive thing coming out of technology, some negative and embarrassing aspects are part of the package. Google Street View is not impartial to it. So, you are travelling to a remote area. You want to check if the roads are okay and how is the scenery along the way. It is common to do so. And almost all the time you will not find anything odd in your search. Except that one time which leaves a lasting impact. A similar thing happened to Finnish travelers when they were checking a route. And what they found left them flabbergasted. Along the road, there were hundreds of scarecrows in a field next to a thick ring of trees. You would expect a couple of scarecrows next to each other, but what if you find more? A lot of questions race through your mind. Why was there a gathering of scarecrows? Do they have parties? And what is going on in that remote part of Finland? The supernatural first comes to your mind. Or a bad trick! Or a social experiment. Or someone making a statement? That is more of the preceding one but let’s keep it separate. It is a still picture that creeps you out, but if you watch it for longer and realize that the crowd is not moving. This makes you lean closer to have a better understanding of the process of living that you just witnessed. Don’t look harder, they won’t move even if you pop your eyeballs out. Without a point, this an annoyingly amazing piece of work. A crowd of people in the middle of nowhere for no reason at all! The country which gave us Sony and Toyota, has the ability to make us question why some of its residents have such varyingly disturbing behaviors.
