In fact, today, we’re talking about the most unlikely of friendships, between animals that you’d never even expect. Welcome to Mind Read! Number 10: At the tenth spot, we’re taking a beautiful look at this remarkable friendship now. This is Bubbles the African elephant and Bella the black Labrador. And these two have a size difference, most definitely, but they love each other so much that they do everything together. Running, swimming and much, much more. They met at the Myrtle Beach Safari Reserve in South Carolina. Both are rescue animals who found a love for one another. African elephant facts: Fact 1: The elephant's gestation period is 22 months, far longer than any other land animal in the world. ... Fact 2: The oldest known elephant in the world lived for 86 years (1917 to 2003). Fact 3: The tusks of an elephant are modified incisors that grow throughout an elephant's lifetime. Fact 4: The elephant's trunk is a fusion of its nose and upper lip. Black Labrador facts: Fact 1: They're America's favorite breed of doggy Fact 2: Labs were originally used as hunters for fishing. Fact 3: Their temperament is intelligent, kind, agile, outgoing, trusting, even tempered, and extremely gentle. Number 9: At spot number 9, we’re absolutely smitten for these two gorgeous animals. Remember the gorgeous kids’ movie called The Fox and the Hound? Well, this movie was made to signify true and lasting friendships. So, let’s have a look at these two unlikely friends, now. This is an Alsatian (or German shepherd) called Tinni and the fox is called Sniffer. And these two unlikely friends absolutely adore one another. Torgeir Berge is a photographer and he’s the owner of Tinni the dog. They live in beautiful Norway. On a walk one day, they found the wild fox and called him Sniffer. Alsatian facts: Fact 1: Life expectancy is from 9 to 13 years. Fact 2: These amazing and adventurous dogs hail from the country of Germany. Fact 3: Their temperament is curious, obedient, loyal, intelligent, confident, watchful, courageous, and alert. Fact 4: They come in a range of colors including: black, black and tan, red and black, sable, gray, or black and silver. Fox facts: Fact 1: A group of foxes is called a skulk or leash. Fact 2: Foxes have whiskers on their legs and face which help them to navigate through their environment. Fact 3: Grey foxes can retract their claws like cats can do. Fact 4: A male is called a dog fox while a female is called a vixen. This is the very-exciting ninth spot in our cool countdown today for 10 friendships between animals you won’t believe. Number 8: At the eighth spot in our countdown today, we’re absolutely looking at these 3 unlikely friends. Shere Khan is a Bengal tiger, and then we have Baloo, an American black bear, and last (but not least), there’s Leo. And Leo is an African lion. All 3 were rescued at the time of an anti-drug campaign, aka rescue operation in the year of 2001. These beautiful animals were chained in a basement at only months old, and once rescued, have been allowed to live together as besties Bengal tiger facts: Fact 1: There are 36 species of cat in the world, and tigers are the largest. Fact 2: Hearing is their sharpest sense, which is 5 times better than humans, and their night vision is 6 times stronger than humans, too. American black bear facts: Fact 1: The black bear is about 4 to 7 feet long from nose to tail, and 2 to 3 feet high at the shoulders. Fact 2: Black bears have small eyes, rounded ears, a long brown snout, a large body, and a short and stubby tail. African lion facts: Fact 1: Lions are the only cats that live in groups, with females being the main hunters. Fact 2: A group or pride can be up to 30 lions, depending on how much food and water is available. Fact 3: Amazingly, a lion's roar can be heard up to 5 miles away.
