An Inspiring Story of a Malayalee (Keralite) Girl in Usa Amilyn was inspired by her 9 year old special needs brother Immanuel, to speak for children in alternate care. Immanuel is a heavily special needs child with severe cognitive delays, seizure disorder, and a rare genetic condition that affects multiple organs of his body. He has been in the ICU at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia for the past 6 months.; he is now recovering in the progressive care unit after many life-threatening situations including blood clots in his pulmonary artery and bleeding around his heart. It is Amilyn’s great dream and passion to further the education towards the needs of special needs children to the forefront of the conversation. Amilyn's life ambition is to become a Pediatric Surgeon one day and serve the kids like her brother wherever she could. She had dreams to find a cure for his genetic disorder related issues, since it is so rare and only 200 kids around the world identified with this condition, there is not much research happening with big pharmaceuticals on his issues. She started working as a research intern at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) with this dream in mind. Amilyn Rose Thomas who represented the United States at the UN. She did the Opening Remarks on the Day of General Discussion for children in Alternative Care along with UN chair for Committee on Rights of the Child, Associate Director of UNICEF and special designee of the under-secretary of Violence against Children, on September 16th, 2021.
