Anne of Cleves or Anne Von Kleve in German was born in 1515 to John iii of Cleves and Maria of Jülrich-Berg. She was the longest living wife of Henry viii living to see the coronation of Mary Tudor, daughter of Catherine of Aragon. While not renowned for her beauty she was an extremely generous and kind person who kept heart even when having to navigate the Tudor court, a court known for its backstabbing and schemers. She was famously extremely good to her servants as well as a good card player. Unlike most of Henry’s wives she maintained a good relationship with both Elizabeth and Mary, serving as a role model for each of them.
