MissCavyQueen's video: Introducing Guinea pigs to each other: Stopping fighting

@Introducing Guinea pigs to each other: Stopping fighting
*This video is based on my own experience with guinea pigs. * If your guinea pigs are fighting constantly and/or injuring one another please consult a veterinarian. -Many people are unaware of how to 'pair' guinea pigs together. They all have individual personalities so it is important their cagemate is chosen properly. older (6 months +) male boars do best when paired with a younger boar. Boars that are neutered also do great with sows. Guinea pigs of the same sex that have grown up together often get along well but may squabble occasionally over dominance. -Normal Dominance behavior: Rumble strutting, purring, nipping (without causing injury), mounting. -Not normal (time to separate): Injurys (scratches, scabs, bleeding), constant fighting and chasing, alarm squeaking (chirping) Many new guinea pig owners will immediately separate their pigs at the first sign of a squabble. In my opinion it is best to let them sort out their dominance, so long as neither of them are being overstressed or hurt. Most guinea pigs will calm down and enjoy each other's company once they have determined the boss :)
