21st- 24th Sept 2018 HOW TO GET THERE: Train from Rabat to Souk Al Arbaa (2hrs), then take a bus (2hrs 40m) 5 dirhams for luggage storage in bus Chefchaouen, one of the prettiest towns in Morocco, a blue washed mountain village, nicknamed the ‘’Blue Pearl of Morocco’’ is indeed a rare stunning gem. It was 6yrs ago when I first stumbled upon a picture of this dreamlike place & it certainly was a dream come true when we finally arrived here. Chefchaouen’s medina is one of the loveliest in Morocco. Wander aimlessly and take in the beauty of this blue city. Shopping is definitely recommended here as you rarely get hassled in shops or restaurants compared to other parts of Morocco. This is a cat city for sure. You’ll find cats in alleys, on stairs, in the souks, roaming through restaurants and on terraces. The Kasbah is a heavily restored walled fortress that now contains a lovely garden & a small museum. From the Spanish mosque hilltop, you will have a grand view of the entire town sprawling over the green hills below. Sunset viewing highly recommended. Shouldn’t miss the Cascades d’ Akchour, a pair of waterfalls, 1 small & 1 large, nestled in the Rif mountains about 45mins drive away. We stayed 3 nights but people do day trips to Chefchaouen too.
