@Newton3 Reddit Question : Change the direction of moving objects across time (here in zero gravity)
In answer to this post : https://www.reddit.com/r/AfterEffects/comments/10vsd4z/trouble_getting_newton_to_do_what_i_need -----l0ngstorySHIRT : "Basically, I have rows of shapes moving past each other on the x-axis. I need two of the rows to move out of line and bonk into the other shapes, inducing chaos across the scene. My issue is that it seems like I have to make them all dynamic and then set the gravity and other settings to move them past each other, and then drop another shape onto them to disrupt them. This isn't ideal though because I'd rather just keyframe them and have them bonk into each other, but it seems like Kinematic shapes don't react to other shapes when they collide." -----Solution: You can use dynamic objets and apply a velocity to them to make them move (you could use kinematic objects if you want to animate them in AE, kinematic switch to dynamic objects after their last keyframe). The trick is that you can animate a (or different) "push" using the Velocity parameters. 0:49 Simply click the animate keyframe of the Velocity Magnitude and Velocity Direction. 1:13 You can now apply 2 different keyframes: one to move them at the beginning and one to "push" them into the desired direction (here at frame 60) 1:35 The simulation
