Motoyuki's video: Student Hydration Training - Optimize Health

@Student Hydration Training - Optimize Health
In this video, we discuss Student Hydration training, a method that trains students to adopt optimal hydration habits. Student hydration can affect energy, well-being, academic performance and long term health. Educators can reduce present and future suffering of their students by teaching proper hydration habits. The information to communicate is simple. Students should drink at least 64 oz of water/day, the equivalent of four 16 oz bottles, or 8 eight-ounce cups. Increase this amount during exercise and when the weather is hot. Hydration affects energy, mood, physical beauty and performance. The best way to ensure you get enough water is to carry a water bottle. While this can be communicated to students hundreds of times, it is more powerful to have a structure that trains students to adopt these habits. This is the purpose of this video. Our structure is The Water Check. With practice, it can take less than 30 seconds/day. 1. Print a seating chart for each period and place on a clip-board. 2. At a certain designated time during class (perhaps after the warm up), have students lift their water bottles in the air. Place a point on the seating chart next to the students who have brought their water bottles. 3. At the end of the week, put the total number of points each student earned (out of 5) into the grade-book. Over time, this will train student accountability for hydration, and you will be directly responsible for increasing the life-long health of your students. Please give this structure a try, and keep me posted on your successes and difficulties. If you like this video, please subscribe to my channel and please share with your teacher friends. Optimize Health is currently undergoing a cultivation phase. Stay tuned for a fresh YouTube channel and look, though it may take a couple years :)
