Metal (D Minor). Representative of flexible structure, late fall, the color white, minerals in the earth, grief/sadness, intuition, and the skin, lungs, and large intestine, Metal is the second track on my Elemental Healing Sounds CD, created as an adjunct for meditation and concentration (Including Yoga and Tai Chi). Recorded at 60 beats per minute, a tempo associated with elevated consciousness and resting heart rate, it can be used to regulate the breath, and subsequently thoughts and emotions. Quiet the mind with the breath, counting to 4 on the inhale, and 4 on the exhale (or just switching inhale and exhale every time the chords change in the music)to build up concentration. The longer the mind can be kept quiet on such a task, the more concentration can be built. At first it may be difficult, but if you exercise discipline, the benefits spill over in to just about every aspect of life. According to Daoist (and Chinese) medical theory, everything is composed of various combinations of the 5 Elements: Earth, Metal, Water, Wood, and Fire, which can be used to explain everything from the effects of certain foods on the body, to personality types, to stages of life development (and just about anything else you can think of.) Each element has a specific healing sound that stimulates/vibrates the organs associated with that element, stimulating enhanced functioning.
