@TZM Italy | Participation to Rome's Maker Faire 2013 w/ENG sub
http://www.zeitgeistitalia.org http://www.thezeitgeistmovement.com http://www.makerfairerome.eu/it/ -Description The Zeitgeist Movement has participated as a guest in the press area at the famous Maker Faire in Rome, the most prestigious European exhibition about Open Hardware and Open Source mechatronics. The festival, which is an exclusive stage in our continent was attended by many people including many foreigners from all over Europe. Also independent bodies participated, Fablab, companies, schools and universities from all over Europe to show several projects relating to home automation, game industry and examples of how Arduino can be implemented to improve our lives every day. The most enthusiastic were the children who have immediately ventured into this fantastic world trying toys, joy pad for console and engaging with rudiments of electronics. Several groups of students from engineering faculties have shown how the combination of 3D Printing (with RepRap) and Arduino is able to generate cost-effective and functional solutions adaptable to any sector and any need, for example in the field of prostheses, accessories or simply to make gifts. We, the volunteers of the movement have also shown solutions to facilitate, for example, the teaching. This robotic arm, or solutions such as this robot insect in order to explain the anatomy of animals in general to the schools in a simple and fun way. We work with children because it's fun for them to let them use infrared torches and lights so that we do not see but the robot can and it begins to follow it. Having access to the press, we have also heard about the lecture by Massimo Banzi, the father of Arduino who introduced the open source world, in a simple and basic way. We also interviewed the creators of DIY projects like this one, that is a solar brush made from components available worldwide mainly used, such as the radiator of a car. The project which we thought was more interesting is this low cost brain-machine interface realized with a RepRap and Arduino, this Open Source device analyzes the bioelectric impulses of the brain, muscles and parts of the body such as the heart and, through Arduino, interprets and monitors vital signs and can also control robotic components like arms and LED lights. The device can also be decomposed to make toys for ALS patients. At the fair makers have exposed many models of Open Source 3D Printers. But the most important news for us it was the gift of Intel to the Zeitgeist Movement Naples of its new board called Galileo based on Arduino, exciting news because even big computer technology companies have invested in open source hardware. -Credits Interview realized by Antonio Gison and Vincenzo Barbato Translated by Nino Aloi and Vincenzo Barbato Video editing e dubbing: Ezio Coriglione Voice: Ivan Anoè Music: Alex F - Into the blue / Megalopoli (CC BY-SA 3.0 by Alex F) ITA Sub & Typing: Vincenzo Barbato on Amara ENG Sub: Ezio Coriglione & Vincenzo Barbato -License of release CC: BY-NC-SA 3.0 by TZM Italy
