Mr. David's video: Eurythmics NEVER GONNA CRY AGAIN Mr David s Extended Version

@Eurythmics NEVER GONNA CRY AGAIN (Mr. David's Extended Version)
Never Gonna Cry Again was the debut single for Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart's EURYTHMICS, their third group together. First band was The Catch, a three-piece that expanded to The Tourists, who enjoyed some success with their three albums and a handful of world tours. But wasn't until Eurythmics' second album, (and US debut) "Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This" that they enjoyed the levels of superstardom they always deserved. This track, while not a total departure from some of the more...melancholy sounds of the final offering from The Tourists, was still a step in the more pop-oriented direction. It was unfortunate to have a series of bad luck- first off the video made was found illegal to broadcast in the UK, as they filmed without the use of union camera crews and technicians, and perhaps more devastating, the week of release saw one of the bloodiest bombings in Ireland, a bomb inside a nightclub- and the main photograph used on newspapers around the world was the blown out space with THIS record cover still prominently displayed on the DJ booth. Between the ghostly image of Annie on the sleeve, the nature of the mournful lyrics, and the situation in Ireland, Dave & Annie saw this song as a bad omen and did not question why it failed to chart. I decided to extended this song because it deserves to not go unheard. It has a relentless drum track and one of the most danceable bass lines Eurythmics have ever used. Had it been released in a different time, it just might have been one of their biggest successes. It survived the longest in their live set of any of the other songs from "In The Garden", it's parent album, even being revisited in 1989 after a few years' off, although transformed into a duet for the backing vocalists to take lead on.
