MrBebopyo's video: Joe Venuti Medley

This is a live date, although the sound quality is not the greatest, it is a testament to how jazz musicians can adapt to each other even if they are from different schools or genres of jazz. Joe Venuti came up in the 1930s with the Paul Whitman band. The pianist is Mike Longo who had been Dizzy Gillespie's pianist for many years and is from the Be Bop school. The bassist is Major Holly, from the Swing Era and Dottie Dogeon is the drummer, also from the Be Bop school. A trombonist is sitting in and plays a couple of choruses before the piano solo. He is Spigal Wilcox, from the Dixieland school. This is also a testament to how great Joe Venuti was 82 here. This was recorded from the Town Tavern in Toronto Canada circa early 70s.
