Also, August was the best selling month ever in terms of total EV sales. People are starting to realize that you can get many different plug-ins and barely have any fuel costs. • The BMW I3 plug-in was spotted in the wild showing it's speed and acceleration. With it's lightweight chassis, it appears to demonstrate great electric drive performance as would be expected from BMW. It remains to be seen whether the I3 will maintain the same performance after the battery depletes like the Chevy Volt does. Compared to the Volt, the I3's range extender is optional and is a two cylinder motorcycle engine. • Fukushima radiation may be affecting U.S. tuna. The radiation may be spreading through fish that migrate between Japan and North America. Radioactive Cesium was detected in Tuna caught off the California coast. The type of Cesium that was detected is the kind that can only come from nuclear power plants or weapons. • The price of oil may set new records, depending what happens in Syria and the spillover effects in the Middle East. Saudi Arabia's shrinking spare capacity would have to be relied on to make up for any shortfalls in Middle East oil production. Something you almost will never hear is that most oil producing countries have past their Peak Oil production mark, including the United States in 1970. • Solar is coming to 200 more Walgreen's stores. This will bring the total solar installations on stores to about 350. Based on installed solar capacity, Wal-Mart leads all stores followed by Costco, Kohls and then Ikea. Since Walgreen's has smaller stores, their installed capacity puts them 10th on the list. • Barnett shale fracking gas production looks to be in decline. One issue with fracking is the wells peak in production in just a couple of years. It's estimated that 1,500 new wells would of had to be drilled last year just to maintain production but only about 800 were drilled. The University of Texas at Austin sums up the future of Barnett shale production in this graph. A few years ago they predicted this decline that we are seeing today.
