If you make the buckets yourself you want to use those oxygenaters and the proper thickness of the bags or you can get them pre-made. First aid kits. You can buy one already made or make your own. Cash and junk silver. When the power is out, cash is king. Home security and self-defense items. Looting and other crazy things happen in SHTF situations. Alternative means of cooking food such as using portable camping stoves. Alternative lighting. An oil lamp with the clear oil works very well. A portable camping toilet. It's really tough to go when the neighbors are watching. Alternative means to heat your home. This could be a wood or pellet stove with a supply of pellets or seasoned firewood on hand. A gravity fed water filter. This can make water drinkable from almost any water source. A back-up power source. I prefer to use my Chevy Volt's on-board generator because it's designed to run a lot longer, quieter and more efficient than any portable generator ever would. I can only power my pellet stove and fridge with it so you would need a large portable one if you want to run your entire house.
