MrEnergyCzar's video: Green Energy News Volt Price Cut Fukushima Fracking Amazon Oil Drilling

@Green Energy News Volt Price Cut, Fukushima, Fracking, Amazon Oil Drilling.
This is Green Energy News, I'm your host MrEnergyCzar. We're covering electric cars, renewable energy, Peak Oil and everything in between. Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/MrEnergyCzar.PeakOil Twitter: https://Twitter.com/MrEnergyCzar • The fourth model year Chevy Volt is now out and is $5,000 cheaper. You can get one delivered for less than $35,000 or, after the EV tax credit, less than $28,000. EV competition and reduced EV component costs may have contributed to the price cut. • The Tesla Model S has now hit the European market. As they arrive in Europe, Norway will be the first country to get Supercharger stations installed along the major highways. The initial six stations will cover about 80% of the country. • Barnhart Texas has run out of water, partly due to fracking water demands. Thirty other towns in West Texas may also run out by the end of the year. Up to eight million gallons of water is needed each time a well is fracked. In our growth based economic model profits come at the expense of the environment and the people that live in it. • Sebastopol California becomes the second city in the country to require solar. New residential and commercial buildings, as well as remodels, will require photo-voltaic systems. The system would have to produce about two watts per square foot or offset three quarters of the building's electrical usage. • The White House is finally getting solar panels again. Back in the eighties, when Ronald Reagan was President, he ordered the solar panels taken down. It should be interesting to see if the panels can remain on the roof during both Democratic and Republican terms in office. • In Fukushima, an attempt to remove fuel rods from the destroyed building could cause an unprecedented disaster. If things go wrong while they attempt to remove the rods, record amounts of radiation may be unleashed. The fuel rods contain the radiation equivalent to about 14,000 Hiroshima's. Also, up to 300 tons of highly radioactive water has been pouring into the Pacific Ocean. • Ecuador opens the Amazon rain forest to oil drilling. Ecuador hit their country's Peak Oil production mark back in 2006. Therefore, this is not a surprise that they'd be cashing in on the oil at the expense of the country's natural capital. Of course it will come at the expense of the environment and the indigenous people that live in it. The path taken isn't much different then the way fracking is done in the states. • Lower cost renewable power in Germany is causing 3,000 mega-watts of fossil fueled power plants to close. Renewable energy lowers energy costs in an overall energy market. The reason is because they have no fuel costs once the systems are installed. Its no wonder the fossil fuel industry is so against renewables, they can't compete if their fuel isn't free and they have to keep closing power plants.
