Violinist William Dutton in the BBC Young Musician 2014 Semi-Final. ----- William Dutton Young Musician 2014 playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLCkO_BxGeFAtzVI4yhPjuh3Agend0m6RJ ----- Again, William's two pieces were Nigun from Ball Shen by Ernest Bloch—as he tells in this clip, William first learnt this piece from Simon Fischer, who had himself learnt it from a pupil of Bloch—and Efrem Zimablist's Fantasy on themes from Rimsky-Korsakov's opera The Golden Cockerel. Sadly, William's breath-taking performance was not enough to get him through to the final three, but to be the Young Musician String Category Winner is, of course, a huge accomplishment in itself.
