Their stay at the top was brief, though, what with fortunes swinging wildly and matches coming thick and fast. On Monday, the two will square off knowing that the winner will be guaranteed top spot for 24 hours, at the very least. In terms of performances so far, little separates them. Both come in with morale-boosting wins on Saturday and boast identical records of three wins and just one loss apiece in four matches. The teams from either side of the Vindhyas are the only two of the original eight franchises, besides Punjab, yet to win the title. Delhi, a team rich in Indian batting talent, will be up against an Bangalore outfit boasting a fine blend of youth and proven skill. In their previous match against Kolkata, Delhi's Indian batsmen came to the party, skipper Shreyas Iyer leading the way with an unbeaten 38-ball 88. Bangalore will clash with Delhi in match 19 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 in Dubai on Monday, 5th of October. Both teams would be looking for a win to give them early ascendancy in the tournament – a victory will take either team to the top of the points table. Bangalore, however, will be buoyed by the return to run-making ways of their own captain. After a lean patch, Virat Kohli announced himself with a defining unconquered 53-ball 72 against Rajasthan. The challenge boils down to just how well bowlers from either side perform. The pressure points in this contest are plenty, beginning with the toss. At the Dubai International Stadium, no team has won chasing this season, which could result in additional pressure on the team batting second. Getting early breakthroughs is crucial because of strong respective top-orders. Bangalore's openers Devdutt Padikkal and Aaron Finch have come out all guns blazing in the Power Play, which has proved decisive more than once. Bangalore Bangalore would be thrilled that their captain, Virat Kohli struck form against the Rajasthan in Abu Dhabi. Devdutt Padikkal has been their batsman of the tournament thus far – he is their leading run-scorer with 3 fifties. Aaron Finch has also got some runs while AB has produced two outstanding innings so far. Yuzvendra Chahal remains their trump card with the ball. He will be used in the middle overs to provide the breakthroughs and to keep the batsmen on a tight leash – he has already given two Player of the Match performances. He is the joint highest wicket-taker of the league so far. Washington Sundar has been brilliantly restrictive for Bangalore conceding at just 4.72 runs per over. Delhi Like Bangalore, Delhi would be very happy with their top order with the exception of Shimron Hetmyer who is yet to showcase his true potential in the tournament. Prithvi Shaw has given two gems in the tournament while Shreyas Iyer’s unbeaten 88 off 38 deliveries against Kolkata gave a glimpse of his phenomenal talent and ability. Rishabh Pant also produced a cameo against Kolkata and after a sluggish start announced himself in IPL 2020. Kagiso Rabada went for a few against Kolkata but remains their number one strike bowler. He has already picked 8 wickets from 4 matches in the tournament. Axar Patel is their unsung hero in the middle overs. He has just gone for 46 runs in the 10 overs he has bowled in the tournament. Unfortunately he was left out in their previous encounter to accommodate Ashwin. The management needs to re-think their strategy based on current form.
