It has a solid mahogany top, paired with mahogany back and sides, giving it a very warm and resonating sound. We gave the rosette an intricate design featuring a surfer riding the waves, echoing the history of the ukulele and its Hawaiian origins. Wood with a story to tell. Mahogany Mahogany is a hardwood which has been used to make quality musical instruments for centuries. Its colour can vary a fair amount, from a pale pinkish brown to a darker reddish brown, and it tends to darken with age. Let's play. Okoume Neck & Walnut Fingerboard The neck and fingerboard of the DUC523 are made from African okoume and walnut. It’s a great combination that guarantees a stable intonation across the fretboard, is gentle to your hands, and looks great as well. Pitch perfect. Bone Nut & Walnut Bridge The nut may be a small component, but one that determines the pitch of the sound. The nut and saddle of the DUC523 are made from bone(not from plastic).
