Wednesday 11 July 2012 The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh arrived at Hereford Station on a steam train. The Royal Party then proceeded to Hereford Cathedral, which they visited to mark the redesign of the Cathedral close. They viewed the Cathedral master plans and met with people involved with the project as well as representatives of the Cathedral community. The Queen unveiled a plaque and signed a visitor's book at the Cathedral's West End pavement. The Queen and The Duke then proceeded to King George V Playing Fields in Hereford for Herefordshire's "Diamond Day" event and after viewing a parade, moved through different Marquees meeting local people. The Royal Party then travelled to The Hive in Worcester. His Royal Highness the Duke of Gloucester was present, as Chancellor of the University of Worcester. They toured the building, after which the Vice Chancellor said a few words, followed by the unveiling of a plaque for the official opening of the building and the signing of the Visitors' Book. After this, The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh arrived at Worcester Guildhall, where they attended a reception. On leaving the Guildhall after lunch, they had a walkabout. The final engagement of the day saw the Royal couple visit Worcester Cathedral, where they viewed a performance to celebrate the area and The Queen unveiled another plaque.
