NANDAN PRATIM SHARMA BORDOLOI's video: Should the bandh culture in Assam be banned Discussion on Bisesh Ek Ghanta

@Should the 'bandh' culture in Assam be banned? Discussion on Bisesh Ek Ghanta
Assam bandh, called by Janagosthiyo Oikya Mancha - an umbrella body of six communities demanding Scheduled Tribes (ST) status - paralysed normal life in Upper Assam and evoked a mixed response in lower Assam. Long-distance commuters were the worst-hit across Assam. Khumtai MLA Mrinal Saikia has appealed to Chief Minister Sarbandanda Sonowal to legislate a suitable law against bandhs. MLA feels that it is high time Assam enacted a law to prohibit various organizations from calling unconstitutional and illegal bandhs in the State. Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma says, if there is an Assam bandh and people from neighbouring Arunachal Pradesh or Meghalaya need to travel through Assam, then the civil society here needs to be sensitive to their interests and allow vehicles to ply. Such gestures will help the region emerge as a homogeneous political engine for growth.
