Iran news in brief, February 1, 2021 Iran’s Regime Executes Baluch Political Prisoner Iran’s genocidal regime executed Baluch political prisoner Javid Dehghan Khald, 31, in Zahedan Central Prison on Saturday morning. Prison authorities had transferred Dehghan Khald to quarantine on Thursday in preparation for the execution. His family saw him for the last time on Friday. The brutal execution comes despite widespread international calls to halt the sentence. “Amnesty International opposes the death penalty in all cases without exception. The death penalty is a violation of the right to life and the ultimate cruel, inhuman and degrading punishment,” the human rights organization said. Iran: Coronavirus Death Toll Is More Than 209,200 Over 209,200 people have died of the novel coronavirus in 478 cities checkered across all of Iran’s 31 provinces, according to reports tallied by the Iranian opposition People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran as of Sunday afternoon local time. The official death toll declared by the regime stands at 57,959 around a third of the actual figure. Ninety-eight members of the Medical Apparatus Organization wrote a letter to regime President Hassan Rouhani: “Purchasing the Sputnik V vaccine that has not surpassed minimum global approval processes and its dangerous impact has been protested in the producing country, is not called for and quite hazardous. Transparent information of the investigative procedures and production of the Sputnik V vaccine is not available and has not been approved by any of the credible global institutions… The medical society and the Iranian people consider any hesitation, delay, practice of reservations as unacceptable and unforgivable,” the letter adds, according to the Medical Apparatus Organization website on Sunday. Iran: Political Prisoner’s Health Deteriorates The health of political prisoner Fatemeh Mosanna, imprisoned for five and a half years, has deteriorated, but authorities in Evin prison are preventing her provisional release for treatment and hospitalization. She suffers from chronic colitis and severe migraines. She has also suffered from severe intestinal bleeding since July 2020 and doctors said she was physically unable to endure the detention In December 2020, a doctor at Taleghani Hospital reaffirmed that Fatemeh was physically unable to endure the detention. He had requested a forensic examination, but Amin Vaziri, the prosecutor of Evin, refused. The Iranian Resistance drew the attention of the United Nations Secretary-General, the UN Human Rights Council and the UN High Commissioner as well as other human rights organizations to the plight of Fatemeh Mosanna, and urged them to take urgent action to ensure her release from the prison.
