Iran: Retirees Protest in at Least 18 Provinces Despite the regime’s repressive measures, on Wednesday morning, for the second week in a row, a large number of retirees and pensioners living on Social Security gathered in Tehran and 19 other cities to protest the deteriorating living conditions and the skyrocketing prices. The demonstrators chanted slogans such as: “We will not give up until we get our rights”, “Employers backed by the government officials betray us,” “We ask God to root out the oppressors.” Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran saluted the brave retirees who rose up and persisted with their protests and chanted, “Only by taking it to the streets, we can obtain our rights.” She added, “So long as this regime is in power, poverty, inflation, and unemployment, as well as corruption and repression will increase. Iran: Coronavirus Death Toll Exceeds 210,600 Over 210,600 people have died of the novel coronavirus in 480 cities across Iran, according to the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran as of Wednesday. The official death toll declared by the regime stands at 58,189 around a third of the actual figure. Regime Health Minister Saied Namaki emphasized the country is in extremely difficult circumstances and expressed grave concerns about the status quo in Tehran. “In the coming weeks we may witness an increase in the number of daily Covid-19 deaths,” he said on Wednesday. “People are asking questions these days due to the good or bad intentions of some people,” he added in reference to the regime’s internal political disputes. “The issues that we are pursuing should not be politicized and the vaccine is one of these subjects. If some individuals are daydreaming about reaching certain positions in the regime, if they are accepted by the people, they will reach that certain position. But today health issues should not be politicized,” he emphasized, according to the regime's official IRNA news agency.
