Iran news in brief, February 3, 2021 40 Council of Europe Parliamentary Members Call for New Iran Policy On Thursday, February 4, the court in Belgium will announce its verdict about Iran’s diplomat-terrorist Assadollah Assadi who attempted to bomb the opposition rally in 2018 in France. A letter was written by 40 members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe its President, the Hon. Rik Daems regarding this case. “for a review of policy toward Iran in all areas [and] serious and effective measures,” reads the letter adding, “any economic and trade relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran on the improvement of the human rights situation in Iran and an end to the regime’s terrorism on European soil.” Iran: Coronavirus Death Toll in 480 Cities Exceeds 210,100 Over 210,100 people have died of the novel coronavirus in 480 cities across Iran, according to People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran as of Tuesday. The official death toll declared by the regime stands at 58,110 around a third of the actual figure. “Whenever vaccination begins in Iran, we will definitely be in better circumstances… be it a foreign vaccine, which millions of doses of foreign vaccines will be imported, and then starting in the summer we will hopefully have domestic vaccines enter the market and people can use it,” said regime President Hassan Rouhani on Tuesday. “Even if everything goes well, we will not have a domestic vaccine prior to mid-spring,” said Health Minister Saied Namaki on Monday, according to state TV. Iran: Political Prisoner Under Continuous Pressure Political prisoner Mehdi Farahi Shandiz has been moved to the quarantine of the Central Prison of Karaj since more than two months ago. He is under pressure and restrictions there. He was relocated from ward 6 to the quarantine of the Central Prison of Karaj in late November, for chanting against the clerical regime’s supreme leader Ali Khamenei and the religious dictatorship. He was deprived of phone calls and visitations. After more than two months, he has just had an opportunity to call his family. He has been permitted to call his family only once a week and only in the presence of a prison guard.
