Iran news in brief, January 15, 2021 Iran: Coronavirus Death Toll Exceeds 201,600 Over 201,600 people have died of the novel coronavirus in 478 cities checkered across all of Iran’s 31 provinces, according to reports tallied by the Iranian opposition People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran as of Thursday afternoon local time. The official death toll declared by the regime stands at 56,538 around a third of the actual figure. “Schools will reopen in yellow and blue cities starting on January 20, and parents can choose if they want to send their children to school,” according to a decision made announced on Thursday by the National Covid-19 Task Force chaired by regime President Hassan Rouhani. “The personnel in all schools across the country, other than those in red areas, will be present in schools starting on January 20,” the announcement adds. Rouhani resorted to yet a new ridiculous lie in this session. “Considering the infrastructure provided by the government, online systems did not allow education to come to a halt… Nothing will replace in-person education,” he said. Iran: Defiant Youths Torch Khamenei’s Pictures On Tuesday morning, following the demolition of the home of an impoverished man in Pakdasht, defiant youths set fire to Khamenei’s large banner in one of Tehran’s districts. The man had refused to pay bribes to the regime’s municipal officials, who ruined his house at night. Also, on Tuesday, defiant youths also targeted a Revolutionary Guards Basij center in Tehran. Simultaneously, the defiant youth set fire to large banners of Qassem Soleimani, the eliminated commander of the terrorist Quds Force, in Tehran, Mashhad, Langarud, Hamadan, and Eslamshahr. The people of the region welcomed the actions of the defiant youth.
