Iran news in brief, February 19, 2021 Iran: Coronavirus Death Toll Exceeds 217,600 Over 217,600 people have died of the novel coronavirus in 480 cities checkered across all of Iran’s 31 provinces, according to reports tallied by the Iranian opposition People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran as of Thursday. “The situation in Tehran is critical and the death rate is expected to change in another two to four weeks. The number of outpatients has increased by 23% compared to the past week and by 4.9% compared to yesterday,” said Alireza Zali, head of the National Coronavirus Combat Taskforce in Tehran, as it was reported by the Mehr news agency, an outlet close to the regime’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security. 5.6 Magnitude Earthquake Rattles Southwest Iran A magnitude 5.6 earthquake rattled the town of Sisakht, southwest Iran on Wednesday evening. State-run media reported 40 injuries with two in critical condition. The earthquake has ruined many houses. Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, in this regard said: "My heartfelt sympathies with the suffering people of Yasuj and Siskhat. I pray for quick recovery for the injured compatriots and urge the youth in Yasuj compatriots Kohgiluyeh to help the quake victims. Only your capable hands can soothe their pain."
