NDSS’ Manager of Grassroots Advocacy, Kayla McKeon, provided comments during a U.S. Department of Education listening session on June 6th, 2022, geared towards amending regulations implemented by Section 504. This listening session allowed Kayla to review her experience as a student with disabilities and provide recommendations to help strengthen students’ rights under Section 504. Kayla’s comments shed light on issues within Section 504 such as out-of-date language, supports needed for students in higher education, and ensuring all students needs are being met appropriately.
