Creating your own future is not easy for anyone, but to Austin Underwood it was clear: Austin wanted to be a chef and run his own restaurant. So now, at age 39 with a lot of hard-work, some extra road-blocks, a supportive family, and an entrepreneurial attitude, Austin’s Underdawg’s was born! Located just outside of Ft. Worth, TX, Austin’s Underdawgs is a mobile hot-dog truck, or “Dawg-Mobile”, offering a variety of gourmet “dawgs”. In addition to his dawgs, Austin also sells his own special sauces, recipes created by Austin himself, along with merchandise for all ages! While keeping busy at dawg parties and events, Austin has never lost focus on the importance of his mission: understanding the needs of people with limited abilities. Austin and his parents have worked tirelessly growing Austin Underdawgs and have continued to grow their business, expanding their venture to franchise opportunities for other potential business owners. Their passion on offering employment opportunities to the disabled community is their focus, along with creating a legacy of Austin’s story, a determined individual living with Down syndrome, who never once considered his dream of being a chef and business owner, an impossibility. Understanding the limited abilities of certain individuals should not impede on one’s dreams to pursue meaningful employment.
